Description

Field Templates define an Advanced Search term that replaces the standard query on the field as given by the Simple Search. The attribute Field/@FieldTemplate in a Simple Search controls which Field Template shall be activated if any.

Configuration for Field Templates are very similar to Search Templates. The only implicit, but obvious limitation is, that it can only use Field Templates that refer the SourceField for which it is configured.

Field Templates are only applied, iff no Search Template is executed for the given Simple Search, otherwise they are ignored.

Use Cases

  • perform differently (configured) searches with the given search term on the same or several fields
  • add constant terms to your search that query other fields in order to restrict the search further
